Tea Time

I love food. I love travel. I love traveling to find new food. I love cooking food. And food loves me. 🙂 Several times a week, (lets face it, every day) I crave something particular to eat. It starts as a cuisine craving, and then I narrow down the dish. Pinterest usually steps in to assist. These last few days I’ve been a bit consumed by tea time. My days start with a cuppa regardless, black with milk, of COURSE. But now I’ve been day dreaming of scones and crumpets and those little sandwhiches with the crust cut off. 😉

After 3 days of drooling on my laptop over pictures on pinterest, I let go of my lazniess (and weird fear of kneading dough) and got to baking! The whole process took about 30-40 minutes from start to in my belly. And it was worth it. Woah- scones are de-li-cious! I’m a little afraid as to what pandora’s box I have opened upon my self, but morning tea won’t be the same anymore without a tasty treat to accompany it. Thank God for my gym membership.

I pulled the recipe from pinterest, here’s the link: http://www.recipe4living.com/recipes/basic_british_scones.htm

Since I tend to lean towards the saltier side of the palate, next time i’ll add less sugar and more salt. These were tasty though! You could taste the sugar all the way through the crusty bottom. They were soft and not doughy in the middle. The outside was buttery and a bit crunchy, just how scones should be in my opinion! We, or maybe just me, slathered them with butter and jam. After stuffing my face and praising the British for popularizing this excuse for snack time, I put the leftovers in plastic wrap and in a plastic bag for later eating. I’ll probably have tea three times today. Today will probably be the best day ever. Tomorrow, I will be at the gym, but today, today will be scones and tea day. =)

There is another recipe that looks really authentic, but required self-rising flour. When I try this one, I’ll let you know if there’s a significant taste difference.
